Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome remains one of the most complex challenges in modern reproductive medicine. Polycystic ovary syndrome is the leading cause of anovulation in more than 90 % of women with ovarian-menstrual cycle disorders and infertility. However, this condition is not merely a gynecological problem; it is often accompanied by obesity, impaired carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, psychological challenges, and a significant deterioration in overall quality of life. Given its systemic nature and chronic course, the management of рolycystic ovary syndrome requires a complex multidisciplinary approach that involves a whole team of specialists, including endocrinologists. Despite the existence of international protocols, practicing physicians often face questions such as: who exactly should receive treatment, how long should it last, and what role do the correction of insulin resistance and metformin play in it? It was precisely to systematize approaches to the comprehensive treatment of рolycystic ovary syndrome and its metabolic complications that this expert council meeting was held.
The main objective of the event was to develop a consensus among experts and formulate clear recommendations for the management of patients with рolycystic ovary syndrome and associated metabolic disorders using metformin.
