The Editorial Board makes decisions regarding the possibility of publishing submitted articles only after the completion of the anonymous peer review process.
The Editor-in-Chief conducts a preliminary evaluation of submitted manuscripts to determine their compliance with the journal’s scientific scope. The Editor-in-Chief also appoints reviewers for each manuscript, engaging leading Ukrainian and international experts in the relevant field. A manuscript is sent for peer review only if it corresponds to the thematic focus of the journal, addresses current scholarly discussions in the respective field, employs contemporary methodological approaches, and does not constitute a double translation.
The journal applies a double-blind peer review procedure, in which reviewers are not informed of the authors’ identities, and authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. For the preparation of each issue, at least ten qualified reviewers are involved in the peer review process.
Within two months, the editorial office informs the author about the acceptance of the manuscript for consideration. The Editor-in-Chief personally sends manuscripts to reviewers and receives their written reviews.
The reviewers evaluate, in particular:
-
the originality and scientific novelty of the research;
-
the accuracy and correctness of citations;
-
the correspondence between the content of the article and its title;
-
the extent to which the author takes into account the most recent publications in the relevant field of scholarly knowledge;
-
the absence of double translation;
-
recommendations regarding acceptance of the manuscript for publication, revision, or rejection.
Reviewers may also indicate shortcomings that do not concern scientific debate but nevertheless require correction by the author.
Based on the received reviews, the Editor-in-Chief prepares a consolidated list of reviewers’ comments and sends it to the author. If necessary, the editorial office may add its own comments.
After revision, the updated version of the manuscript may be sent again to the same reviewers. The identities of reviewers are not disclosed by the editorial office.
Positive reviews from the reviewers generally serve as the main basis for accepting a manuscript for publication. However, the Editorial Board reserves the right to make a different decision if justified reasons arise.
If reviewers provide conflicting evaluations of a manuscript, the Editorial Board may decide to accept or reject the manuscript or appoint additional reviewers.
If a manuscript is rejected, the editorial office informs the author by email, providing the reasons for the decision. Rejected manuscripts are not reconsidered. The Editorial Board does not enter into discussions with authors regarding the grounds for rejection.
